Goa Airport

The Airport of the charming land Goa is organized to all domestic and international tourists, located at Dabolim, 30km from capital Panjim. Air Deccan, Air Sahara, Indian Airlines, Jet Airways, and Air India operate from Goa Airport, also a profitable airport of India.

Estado da india Portuguesa Government (Portuguese ruled enclaves) built Goa airport in 1950’s. When it was surrendered by K.P. Candeth, a successful Major General, was taken by Indian Navy’s air wing in 1962 April, still earning good revenue from the service of Air traffic control. However, now the political circles demand to relocate air station of Indian Army to restore civilian status of airport.

Spread around 688 hectares, it has 2 buildings operated by Airports Authority of India (AAI). The domestic terminal, built in 1983, covers 2,000 sq m (22,000 sq ft), while the international terminal, built in 1996, has 1,000 sq m (11,000 sq ft) of space. The parking area is for 8 buses and 84 cars but for the staff and private vehicles to be parked outside.

Plans to improve Goa Airport announced in 2006 are to construct new terminal for international passengers after converting the constructed one for domestic. More stands for around 4 hectares for the delayed aircrafts of navy may be added.

Departures and arrivals for domestic and international terminal are processed 350 and 250 respectively. 30-40 flights operate at present.

Domestic terminal 1 operates with GoAir, Indian Airlines, IndiGo Airlines, Jet Airways, JetLite, Kingfisher Airlines, MDLR Airlines, Paramount Airways and SpiceJet.

International terminal 2 operates with Air Arabia, Condor Airlines, Indian Airlines, Monarch Airlines, Novair, Qatar Airways, Thomas Cook Airlines and Thomson Airways.

Terminal 1 has the facilities for the passenger like TR Stall, Handicrafts Emporium and Bookshops and Terminal 2 has the facilities TR Stalls and Duty Free Shops generally.
